What is EN19 Also Known As?

EN19 is internationally recognised and goes by multiple standards, including AISI 4140, 709M40, and 42CrMo2. It’s typically supplied in annealed, rolled, or normalised conditions, depending on the application requirements. EN19 Chemical Composition

Physical & Mechanical Properties

• Density: 8.08 g/cm³ or 0.292 lb/in³

• Melting Point: Approx. 1425°C / 2600°F

• Excellent wear and fatigue resistance

• Suitable for heat treatment and case hardening

Heat Treatment & Hardening

• Annealing: 845°C followed by oil quenching

• Normalizing: Heated at 913°C and air-cooled

• Hardening: Achieved through cold working or heating and quenching

Forging Range

EN19 can be forged within the temperature range of 926°C to 1205°C, allowing for excellent structural integrity and machinability.
