P20 Mold Steel is a low-alloy, versatile tool steel primarily supplied in a pre-hardened condition (approx. 28–34 HRC). Known for its good toughness, excellent machinability, and uniform hardness, P20 is widely used in the plastic injection Mold industry and for die-casting dies, particularly for zinc.
P20 offers consistent performance across large sections and is compatible with polishing and surface treatments, making it ideal for complex and high-finish Mold applications.

Machinability: 60–65% of 1% carbon steel
Hardening Temp: 763 °C (Critical)
Preheating: Up to 621–677 °C at a max rate of 222 °C/hr
Quenching: Gas pressure or interrupted oil quench to 66–51 °C
Tempering: At 482–593 °C for desired hardness between 28–37 HRC
No further hardening is needed in most cases as the steel is delivered pre-hardened
P20+Ni (1.2738): High-hardness variant for larger Molds requiring increased toughness and polishability
P20+S: Improved machinability variant due to added sulfur
P20+Ni+HH: High-hardness version with better surface resistance and extended tooling life
