DIN 1.2316 is a high-chromium, molybdenum-alloyed plastic Mold steel renowned for its corrosion resistance, high polishability, good toughness, and wear resistance. Thanks to these properties, it is especially suitable for processing aggressive plastics such as PVC and other chemically reactive polymers. This grade also offers excellent thermal conductivity and dimensional stability, making it ideal for Molds requiring precision and durability.

Pre-Toughened State:
Material is typically supplied in a pre-toughened condition and may not require further hardening for most applications.
Soft Annealing:
Heat at 760–800°C for 4–5 hours
Controlled cooling at 10–20 °C/hour to 650 °C
Air cooling afterward
Maximum achievable hardness: 230 HB
Hardening:
Heat to 1030–1050 °C
Soak at temperature for 15–30 minutes
Quench in oil or water
Final hardness: up to 49 HRC
Tempering:
Temper immediately after hardening
Recommended duration: 1 hour per 20 mm of material thickness
